How a nutrition programme runs in Atlacare

A long first consultation

An ADIME note: Assessment (weight, height and waist, with BMI calculated), Nutrition Diagnosis, Intervention, and Monitoring & Evaluation.

A programme, not twelve bookings

Record a twelve-week block as a treatment plan on the client record, with the sessions planned, and count sessions off as you go.

Short reviews

Each review adds new measurements, and the weight trend on the client record updates.

Review points that do not rely on memory

Set a recall for the next review and it appears on the recalls list in due-date order.

Nutrition work is shaped differently from most clinical practice: a long first consultation, a structured programme, short reviews, and a lot of client-supplied data between appointments. Atlacare supports that with treatment plans, recalls for review points, and an ADIME note that records more than weight. A food diary is health data, and it is treated as special category data throughout.

  • "Nutritionist" is not a protected title in the UK; "dietitian" is, and dietitians are regulated by the HCPC (hcpc-uk.org)
  • The Association for Nutrition runs the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN); registration is voluntary (associationfornutrition.org)

Designed for nutritionists

Programmes as treatment plans

Record a twelve-week block as one treatment plan rather than twelve separate appointments, with planned and completed sessions tracked. Clients see their progress in the portal.

Measurement tracking

Record weight, height and waist circumference in each ADIME assessment. BMI is calculated for you and the weight trend shows on the client record.

Client portal

Forms, the treatment plan and client-visible notes in one place, with magic-link access and no password.

Food diaries as health data

Attach a diary to the client record as a file, or collect it through a form you build. It is stored in the EU as special category data, with consent tracked on the record.

Recalls

Set a review date and the recalls list shows who is due, so you are not relying on memory.

Marketing consent enforced

Campaign messages only reach clients with marketing consent recorded, which keeps email and text marketing on the right side of PECR.

What sits on a nutrition client record

Everything for one client in one place, rather than spread across a spreadsheet, a notes app and an inbox.

  • ADIME consultation notes that lock on sign-off
  • Weight, height, waist and BMI, with the weight trend over time
  • Food diaries and other files the client sends you
  • Treatment plans with sessions planned and completed
  • Recalls for the next review
  • Consent and marketing-consent records

Built for AfN registrants, and for everyone else

Nutritionist is not a protected title, so the Association for Nutrition's register is how many practitioners show their standards. Whether or not you are registered, the data rules are the same: client health data is special category data under UK GDPR. Atlacare is built around those rules rather than endorsed by any body.

  • Keep contemporaneous notes that lock on sign-off, with a version history.
  • Record consent, and marketing consent separately, on the client record.
  • Hold every record in EU-region infrastructure under UK and EU GDPR.
  • Write every significant action to an audit log.

Frequently asked questions

Is a food diary personal data?

It is health data, which makes it special category data under UK GDPR and subject to the highest obligations. Atlacare treats it accordingly.

Can I run a programme rather than single sessions?

Yes. Record the programme as a treatment plan with the number of sessions planned, and the client record shows how many have been completed. Selling prepaid packages is not built yet, so invoice the programme as you normally would.

Does it work for nutritionists as well as dietitians?

Yes. Nutritionist and Dietitian are separate professions in Atlacare, so your profile says what you actually are. Both default to the ADIME note format, which suits nutrition consultations. The distinction matters in UK practice and the software keeps the two apart.

Which note format will I get?

ADIME by default: Assessment, Nutrition Diagnosis, Intervention, and Monitoring & Evaluation, with weight, height and waist in the Assessment section. You can switch a practitioner to SOAP, DAP or BIRP if you prefer.
