What is patient portal software?
Patient portal software gives each patient a secure, private area to manage their own care — viewing and booking appointments, reading notes the clinician has shared, paying invoices, completing forms and following an exercise plan — without phoning the clinic. It shifts routine admin from your front desk to the patient, on their schedule.

Patient portal software: common questions
How do patients log in to the portal?
With a magic link. The patient enters their email and Atlacare sends a one-time sign-in link that expires after 24 hours — no password to create, reset or forget.
What can patients see in the portal?
Their appointments, invoices, exercise plan, forms, and any clinical notes you've marked patient-visible. Internal and confidential notes never appear in the portal.
Is the patient portal available on the free plan?
The portal is included on paid plans. The Free plan covers scheduling, records, notes and a booking page; upgrading adds the portal, unlimited patients and online payments.
Can a parent manage a child's portal?
Yes. A parent or guardian can be given representative access to a child's portal — administrative by default (appointments, forms, invoices), with clinical detail shared only if a clinician enables it. Access ends automatically at 16.
Is portal data secure and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Portal data is stored in EU regions under UK and EU GDPR, and patients only ever see their own record, filtered to what you've chosen to share.
