AtlacareIf you run a clinic in the United Kingdom and hold patient records, you almost certainly need to register with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) and pay the annual data protection fee. Processing health data electronically — which is exactly what Atlacare helps you do — is the kind of processing that requires it.
How to check and register
- Use the ICO's own self-assessment at ico.org.uk to confirm whether you need to register. Most healthcare providers do.
- Register and pay the data protection fee. For most small practices the fee is modest and paid yearly.
- Keep your registration reference with your practice records.
This is a legal obligation on you as the data controller — it's separate from Atlacare, and something Atlacare can't do on your behalf.
Where Atlacare shows your authority
Atlacare already knows your supervisory authority based on your organisation's country. Open Settings → GDPR & Consent and the Data retention & authority card shows it — the ICO for the UK, with a link — so you always know who your regulator is.
If you're in the EU
Registration rules vary by country. Your supervisory authority (for example, the Garante in Italy, the CNIL in France, or the DPC in Ireland) is shown in the same Settings → GDPR & Consent card, with a link to their site. Check their guidance on whether you need to register or notify them.
