Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step to your login, so a stolen password isn't enough to get into your account. For anyone holding patient data, it's worth turning on.
Turn it on
Go to Settings → Security and enable two-factor authentication. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app — Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, or any TOTP app — and enter the 6-digit code it shows to confirm.
From then on, you'll enter a code from the app each time you sign in on a new device.
Save your backup codes
When you turn on 2FA, Atlacare gives you a set of backup codes. Save them somewhere safe and offline — a password manager is ideal. Each code works once, and they're your way back in if you lose your phone.
If you lose access to your codes
Use a backup code to sign in, then reset 2FA from Settings → Security with a fresh device. If you've lost both your phone and your backup codes, contact us — we'll verify your identity before restoring access, which is deliberately not instant.
Owners
As the clinic owner you hold the keys to patient data, so Atlacare will prompt you to set up 2FA if you haven't. It takes two minutes and it's the highest-value security step you can take.
2FA protects the login only — it doesn't change anything about how your day-to-day work behaves.
