How clinical notes lock and version

Clinical notes are a legal record, so Atlacare treats them differently from an ordinary editable document.

Locking

While you're writing, a note is a draft — it autosaves every 30 seconds and shows a draft badge. When you sign it, the note locks. That's the point at which it becomes the record of the consultation.

Amending a locked note

You can still correct or add to a locked note — clinical records sometimes need it — but Atlacare never silently overwrites. Instead it keeps the original and records your change as a new version, with the history preserved. So the record shows both what was originally written and what was amended, and when.

This is exactly what a professional or legal review expects: an audit trail, not a document that could have been quietly changed after the fact.

Why it matters

If you're ever asked to produce records — by a regulator, an insurer, a court, or the patient — locked, versioned notes stand up. An editable free-for-all doesn't.
