Some information about a patient needs to be seen every time, not buried in an old note. Atlacare has two ways to surface it.
Alerts and tags
Add tags to a patient — allergy, high-risk, insurer, VIP, whatever your clinic needs to see at a glance. Tags show on the patient's profile and help you filter your list.
Safeguarding flags
A safeguarding flag marks a patient where there's a safeguarding concern. It's deliberately handled with more care than an ordinary tag:
- Notes related to a flagged patient are set to confidential automatically, so a sensitive concern isn't sitting on a note the whole team can open. See note visibility.
- Adding certain access (like a parent/guardian representative) is blocked until a clinician reviews the flag, so access decisions aren't made around a live concern by mistake.
- A duty-of-care prompt appears where it's relevant, so the safeguarding pathway isn't skipped.
Why this matters
Safeguarding is a legal and professional duty, not a feature. Atlacare's job is to make sure a flag can't be quietly ignored and that sensitive detail is protected by default — the clinical judgement stays with you.
Flags and confidential notes are only visible to the treating practitioner and the clinic owner — set them with the same care you'd apply to any safeguarding record.
